Proper care for contact lenses is very critical because contacts are devices that directly contact the eyeballs. Without appropriate lens care, eye infections may occur. Lens care is important for every contacts wearer. In general, proper lens care requires some necessary elements, including lens solutions, lens case, soft plastic tweezers and so on. These supplies are always available from eye care practitioners or local pharmacies. With the availability of these supplies, lens care also involves some detailed steps.

 

In the past, contact lens wearers had to use two separate solutions that one for lens storage and the other for lens cleaning. Thanks to scientific advances, there are multi-purpose solutions that combine both of the two duties. Requiring no lens rub, multi-purpose lens solutions can not only disinfect contact lenses but also remove protein build-ups. However, it is worth mentioning that a multi-purpose solution is not universally applicable to all types of contact lenses. Soft and RGP lenses require different formulas of multi-purpose solutions.

 

With multi-purpose lens solutions, it is necessary to clean contact lenses on a daily basis. Lens cleaning contains several restrict steps. Before handling a lens, the wearer needs to wash and dry his or her hands thoroughly. And then squirt lens solution directly on each side of the lens. After that, put the lens in the lens case filled with fresh solution and let the lens soak on its own. When the wearer wants to put a lens in the eyes, he must rinse each side again with fresh solution. For lenses that last for a long time, normal lens solutions can not do a good job. In this case, protein-removing tablets are needed to further remove protein build-ups.

 

Lens storage also requires some precautions. In order to prevent solution from leaking out, lens case should have screw-down lids. In addition, lens case needs regular washing with soap and boiling once a week.

What's the safest way to clean a camera lens?

I've got a yellow cloth, a pack of abrasive looking lens cleaning tissues, some isopropyl lens cleaning fluid and a squeezy ball with a brush on the end (the ball has a hole that fits the cleaning fluid) - but no instructions! There's also some cotton buds.

The safest best method I have found is the Hakuba Lens Pen. Use the brush side to get rid of dirt first and the cup side to remove smudges and water rings.

I've tried all the liquid methods, none work as good or easy as the lens pen.
