Sponsored by the Vancouver Sun newspaper, the race established in 1985, has grown to be one of the largest road races in North America. In 2010, over 50,000 runners participated in the Sun Run. The race begins at Georgia Street in downtown Vancouver and winds its way through various neighborhoods of the city highlighting some of the city's best real estate and offering entertainment along the route. The race culminates at BC Place Stadium followed by entertainment in the stadium. The Sun Run provides a competitive race course for world class and elite runners all the way down to mothers pushing strollers. This helps to make the Vancouver Sun Run one of the top five sporting events you can't miss in Vancouver.
