Ray Ban Sunglasses: Finding the Right Look
A classic, neutral, and unisex look for sunglasses is in for summer 2011. Out of all the possible sunglasses brands out there, Ray Ban captures this style perfectly and is often spotted on celebrities. All neutral styles are part of this brand's product line: aviator, wayfarer, and clubmaster sunglasses. Although colored frames can give a pair a slight feminine appearance, nearly all Ray Ban sunglasses are unisex.
Right now, wayfarers are the most prominent style by Ray Ban. Introduced in the middle of the 20th century, Ray Ban wayfarers were last a popular style in the early 1990s, and staying under the radar for almost a decade, they emerged in the mid ‘00s. Back in the 1980s, however, Ray Ban considered discontinuing this style, but actors wearing wayfarers in movies like Risky Business brought the style back.
Ray Ban includes two styles of wayfarer sunglasses: one more rounded and another with an angular appearance. Deciding which one is best for your depends upon your face shape. If you have a distinct jaw or square-shaped visage, a rounded pair of Ray Ban wayfarer sunglasses softens the angles. If you have a rounded face, the angular wayfarers can give your features more definition.
Similar to wayfarers, Clubmaster sunglasses combine rounded and straight edges. Introduced in the 1980s, clubmaster sunglasses were re-launched in 2008 and are now reaching their style peak. Expected to be a popular trend for summer 2011, clubmaster sunglasses have a half-rim look: a straight, horn-rimmed top frame juxtaposed with rounded lenses. Much like wayfarers, clubmasters may compliment your face shape or make certain features prominent.
Aviators, too, appeared in various ‘80s films, such as Top Gun and Cobra, and much like 25 years ago, a neutral style for aviator sunglasses is in now. Although colored plastic frames for aviator Ray Ban sunglasses have been popular, metal frames and black lenses go with any look. As a variation, mirrored lenses are a trend for men. Paired with a metal frame, mirrored aviator sunglasses are neutral without being modest and do not have a clunky appearance. If you plan to wear this look, aviators, with teardrop-shaped lenses, have a rounded style that softens angular facial features.
